WINES

This is how it all began.... The spark that triggered the passion goes by the name of  Monteleone, a magic place, with its landscapes, the ancient lands where the vineyards grow, the scents, the energy, the culture, the people.

2004. I yearn to concentrate this sentiment in something I can share with others. In a bottle. Inside the bottle, my message. Our work in the vineyards begins. It's very different from what we are accustomed to. Throwing bunches of wholesome clusters on the ground and thinning the clusters that will end up in the cellar. Privileging quality over quantity.  Over here we're not used to it. People here almost feel hurt, they feel sorry.  But this is how it works and we must be aggressive. As well as respectful. Thinning, defoliating, trimming, pruning...you almost work yourself to death but you reach the cellar satisfied. Days and days of grape harvesting. Days and nights in the cellar decanting, cleaning, talking, learning, understanding, mixing the soul with the must. From the vineyards to wines.

A special thought goes to all the people who have worked with us with great devotion and to the hordes of women with their straw hats, underneath the sun, amid the vineyards.
To Massimo Vignelli, who created the label from New York.
To my husband who believed in me.

The vineyards: about 8 ha. Planting of vineyards: 1995 and 2004. Soil: Pliocene sediments mixed with sand, with a south and south-west exposure. Vine-training System: trellis system. Cane pruning: Guyot. Grape varieties: Sangiovese di Romagna and Uva Longanesi and white variety Albana di Romagna.
The vineyards are cultivated with low impact agricultural techniques. We vinify in such a way  as to let the grapes show their own character as much as possible. The process  is carried out under temperature control with gentle treatment of grapes and wine and skin-lee contact; for white wines we use techniques such as cryo-maceration to preserve the typical and original characteristics of the grapes and to extract all the aromas.

Our current wine labels are:
